On Friday February 15, 2013 NCADD issued its monthly "NCADD Washington Report", developed by John R. Magnuson, NCADD Vice President of Policy and Advocacy.

NCADD Announces New Focus to Advance Mission - Creates the NCADD Center for Public Policy and Advocacy

The NCADD National Board and Staff in New York City announced the formation of the new NCADD Center for Public Policy and Advocacy.

This new initiative has two goals;

  1. To create a greater publicpolicy presence in Washington DC
  2. To centralize the public policy initiatives, reports and capabilitiesof the NCADD Public Policy and Advocacy efforts in one location on the NCADD website. www.ncadd.org

Leading the effort is John R. Magnuson, NCADD Vice President of Policy and Advocacy.

John Magnuson- webJohn is a Minnesota native, former Congressional Staffer and Campaign Manager-Finance Director for Congressman Jim Ramstad and has a long and personal history with Alcoholism and Addiction. Pastfield service includes; Johnson Institute VP, StepUP Program at Augsburg College Past Board Chair,Association of Recovery Schools (ARS) Board Member, SAMHSA National Recovery Month PlanningPartner – where he envisioned, created and expanded nationally the Recovery Month Baseball Initiative.

John will staff and assist the NCADD Board Public Policy and Advocacy Committee in the development of NCADD policy positions, comments on new federal rules and regulations, track legislation introducedinto the 113th Congress and to work collaboratively with NCADD Affiliates and other addiction related organizations to grow the NCADD Grassroots Team and lead the fight against stigma and discrimination!
