SENATE COMMITTEE CONISDERS NATIONAL YOUTH ANTI-DRUG MEDIA CAMPAIGN APPROPRIATIONS (6/23/99)

The Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to vote on the Treasury-Postal Service-General Government appropriations bill tomorrow, June 24. This will include funding for the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Senator Lautenberg (D-NJ) is prepared to offer an amendment to authorize ONDCP to include underage drinking prevention messages in the youth anti-drug media campaign.

BACKGROUND
NCADD supports efforts in Congress to include underage drinking prevention messages in the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign. The House Appropriations Committee has postponed consideration of its bill; it most likely will not be taken up before July 4th.

The message is:

Please support the Lautenberg Amendment to the Treasury-Postal Service Appropriations bill, which will allow the Office of National Drug Control Policy's media campaign to include underage drinking prevention messages.
