Senate Amendment to Be Offered on the Floor Late July

Last week Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) was expected to offer an amendment to Treasury-Postal Service-General Government Appropriations bill that would authorize ONDCP to include underage drinking prevention messages in its youth anti-drug media campaign. The amendment was co-sponsored by Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) and Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV). The amendment is indentical to the Wol/Roybal-Allard amendment under consideration by the House subcommittee. Senator Lautenberg withdrew his amendment because of opposition from another member of of the committee, but has stated he will offer it on the floor for consideration by the full Senate in late July.
