Building Blocks Advocacy Series

Summer 2001
Volume I Issue 2

PART TWO:  Prioritize Based on Your Needs Assessment

BASED ON THE NEEDS ASSEMENT FROM PART ONE, BEGIN DRAFTING YOUR ADVOCACY PRIORITIES

    CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

    • Is parity legislation pending in your state?

    • Is block grant money a big priority to your organization?

    • Is stigma reduction in the local business community a priority?  If not, should it be?  Why?

    • What relationships exist within your organization and family to access individuals in power?  If they exist, create ways to meet with them to discuss your issues.
