Center for Open Recovery - San Francisco, CA

Center for Open Recovery - San Francisco, CA
Mission Our purpose today is both an evolution from, and a re-commitment to, Marty Mann’s vision: “to help individuals, families and entire communities discover a path of recovery.” Center for Open Recovery exists to champion, explore, create and strengthen solutions that support long-term recovery from addiction. This includes advocacy, education, and direct service in the community. History NCA-BA pursued that purpose in San Francisco for over 58 years through providing direct services such as its well-known DUI and drug diversion programs for individuals who are mandated by courts and the California Department of Motor Vehicles, as well as through counseling, prevention education, and other community outreach. In 2015, inline with NCA-BA’s founding purpose, the board and management team decided to reposition the organization to become the San Francisco Bay Area’s key proponent of long-term recovery from addiction. The Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA), Dallas, TX

The Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA), Dallas, TX
HISTORY: The Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA) is a nationally renowned, award-winning, grass-roots, peer-driven and peer-led recovery community organization in Dallas, Texas. (Note: “Peers” is the term we use to refer to our peers, those we serve, who are in recovery from substance use.) In 1998, a local non-profit recovery advocacy organization called Dallas Helps, in association with a dedicated group of peers in recovery from alcohol and/or other drug addiction, formed the association now known as APAA. Over the next three years, this newfound organization grew from infancy and quickly established its mission, vision and values.
