The Addiction Resource Council (ARC), NCADD’s Waukesha, WI Affiliate, offers various services to adults and families with alcohol dependence and/or drug addiction problems. Here are some of them.
Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driver Safety Plan Process
For those who have been convicted of operating a vehicle while under the influence, the Council offers a program that will help the individual maintain driving privileges as well as educating and addressing any substance use issues. The process begins with an assessment, a requirement for all individuals convicted of operating while under the influence. The assessment includes an interview to identify alcohol/drug use habits and to develop a Driver Safety Plan (DSP). The DSP offers the individual an understanding of his/her alcohol/drug habits, provides education or treatment opportunities, and includes referrals to other agencies.
Substance Abuse Assessment (Non-OWI
The Council provides non-OWI assessment to help determine what type of education or, if needed, treatment is necessary for those struggling with alcohol and/or drugs. The assessment is an hour and is designed to gather information to better understand the root cause of the alcohol and drug use, mental health or trauma, and provide education or treatment referrals.
Parent Power Night
'Parent Power Night' is an opportunity for parents to ask questions and learn from a panel of experts who work in the alcohol and other drug abuse field. This panel is designed to inform parents of the newest alcohol and drug trends that the children of Waukesha County may face. The panel of experts includes representatives from law enforcement, public health nursing, the recovering community, school AODA counselor, a treatment provider, 'Stop and Think' instructor, and the ARC's Executive Director. 'Parent Power Night' is free of charge and open to the public.
Community Talks Series
Addiction Resource Council is available to provide community presentations which offer information on various topics, in order to combat alcohol dependence and drug addiction. Council staff are available to present in schools, universities, technical colleges, businesses, parent groups, religious organizations, hospitals, health care facilities, service clubs and other community-based organizations. There is no fee for outreach services to Waukesha County’s community members.
Victim Impact Panel
This panel consists of a small group of victims of drunk driving tragedies. The panel discusses how their lives were affected by the sudden loss of a loved one and is designed to help change the drinking and driving behavior of offenders. The panel can help offenders realize the dangers and consequences of their behavior.
