NCADD is joining with Community Catalyst and several other organizations in trying to stop the latest attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Please see below for specific actions you can take to ensure that access to health care is not taken from the population we serve.
We urge you to add a new tactic – emailed personal letters -- as we fight to beat back Graham-Cassidy-Heller, the most harmful GOP health care repeal plan we’ve seen yet. The bill continues to gain momentum and we have less than a week left to stop it! We need to keep up the fight to protect life-saving addiction services and supports for millions of Americans.
Graham-Cassidy-Heller will be discussed at a Senate Finance Committee Hearing on Monday, and Democrat committee members want to visibly demonstrate public opposition with a huge stack of letters. We urge you to email letters to the committee sharing personal stories and concerns about how the bill will harm people with substances use disorders.
Click here for letter template and instructions.
We also still need to drive calls to all Senators, urging them to vote NO on the bill. Please feel free to use 888-852-0653, which will allow callers to patch through to their member of Congress.
Suggested talking points:
- We oppose this bill because it would jeopardize access to life-saving and effective treatments for addiction.
- This plan weakens states’ efforts to address the current crisis of drug overdose deaths.
- This bill would disproportionally harm communities of color and others whose access to coverage and treatment is already restricted.
