Justice Department to Crack Down on Addiction Treatment Centers Filing Bogus Claims

The U.S. Justice Department will crack down on drug addiction treatment centers that have filed bogus insurance claims, Bloomberg reports.

The move is part of a major law enforcement action targeting healthcare fraud.

The action will also target treatment centers that have filed reimbursement claims for drugs they then sell illegally, the article notes.

Sources told Bloomberg that arrests will be carried out in Miami, Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles.

Past government healthcare fraud roundups have focused on people who were defrauding Medicare and Medicaid. This year the emphasis will be on fraud against private insurers.
