LICADD’s mission is to address the addictive climate of our times by providing initial attention and referral services to individuals, families, and children, through intervention, education and professional guidance to overcome the ravages of alcohol and other drug-related problems.
Professionally-guided educational and motivational processes that help a family or workplace “team” prepare themselves to approach a loved one in a clear, respectful, and loving way about their drug and/or alcohol use with the immediate goal of encouraging them to accept help.
Professionally facilitated workshops designed for families who are living with someone who is actively abusing substances.
Provides on and off-site professional alcohol and drug related consultation, guidance and custom-tailored treatment referral services for adolescents, adults, and families.
Provides individualized recovery coaching, case management and relapse prevention groups creating a safety-net of aftercare and support services following substance abuse treatment.
Provides alcohol and other drug risk education for individual, family, and communities from kindergarten through adulthood.
LICADD’s BUDDY Mentoring Program delivers a wide range of support services to at-risk children of incarcerated parents helping to break the multi-generational cycle of addiction and incarceration.
Long Island’s oldest and most established non-profit EAP provides confidential crisis intervention services, evaluation and assessment, brief interventions, screened referrals and follow-up services for a broad spectrum of personal concerns for employees of Long Island’s companies, labor unions, and school districts.
Work to increase awareness of, and lessen the potential impact of alcoholism and drug dependence. Through our collaborative efforts, we strive to shape public policy and practice in ways that support healthy and safe individuals, families, schools, and communities.
LICADD provides a variety of presentations and workshops that are tailored to meet the needs of a school or community according to age, length of time, location, audience, etc. We speak to individuals in grades K-12, in college classrooms, PTA meetings, community centers, agencies and any organization that is interested in gaining more information about the current drug epidemic and related topics.
The goal of LICADD’s presentations, specifically those designed for young people is to enhance the protective factors and help individuals build the healthy coping skills needed to reduce and prevent substance use. LICADD utilizes evidence-based programs and models for all presentations. We area also certified to provide the evidence-based Teen Intervene and Too Good for Drugs (TGFD).
LICADD provides educational programs to family members about the disease of substance use, signs and symptoms, healthy communication, modeling behaviors, setting boundaries and consequences, what to do if they have a loved one who is struggling, and tips on how to talk with children and teens about substance use and related issues.
Opioid medications (e.g.-Vicodin, oxycodone, etc.) and Heroin are currently being abused in epidemic proportions. This one hour-lecture with a 20 minute demonstration will provide the proper training to any person interested in saving lives from opioid overdose. Completion of this training program will qualify participants in the proper administration of Narcan, the antidote for opioid overdose. Participants must be at least 18 years old to leave with a Narcan kit. Both nasal and injectable Narcan options are available.
