NCADD Joins the Global #GIVINGTUESDAY Movement

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving aimed at harnessing the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Occurring this year on November 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in meaningful ways to the charities and causes they support.

Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.

Focusing on the theme, “A Trusted Voice of Hope, Help and Healing for Over 70 Years,” NCADD urges its many supporters and friends to participate in #GivingTuesday by showing their commitment to fighting the devastating consequences of alcoholism and drug dependence on individuals, families and communities across the country.

NCADD is the oldest addiction advocacy organization in America, with a national network of Affiliates providing an array of addiction-related services at the local level. For over 70 years, NCADD has been making consistent progress in creating public awareness of alcoholism and drug dependence as treatable and preventable diseases.
The entire NCADD community – Board of Directors, Affiliates and staff – is active in the critical areas of public policy, prevention, advocacy, treatment, medical and scientific research, communication and education. Working with the media and other organizations has heightened the public profile of recovery and brought into clearer focus the fact that millions of people are living lives in recovery.

To emphasize this important collaborative work, NCADD is participating in #GivingTuesday, and we encourage those who wish to help us continue delivering our message of Hope, Help and Healing to make a contribution on November 29th, either through the GivingTuesday website, or directly through the NCADD website.
